PROJECT IMPROVEMENT OF UNY STUDENTS IN MBKM INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AT PT. KOMATSU INDONESIA

Faculty of Engineering UNY opens 2023 with innovations in partner industries. At the event "MBKM Convention: Final Evaluation of Batch 1 Program", 5 FT UNY students presented the results of Project Improvement at PT Komatsu Indonesia, North Jakarta. The Project Improvement is one of the outcomes of the MBKM Batch 1 Internship activities at PT Komatsu Indonesia and several supplier companies, in August-December 2022.

The five students who came from the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education and Automotive Engineering Education, confidently presented their innovations in front of the Board of Directors (BOD) of PT Komatsu Indonesia, representatives of the Director General of Higher Education, Representatives of the Director General of Belmawa, leaders of Komatsu supplier companies. The theme of innovation carried by the five students is different for each student. The five themes focused on local supplier quality improvement, Level Up Quality Welding, On Time Delivery, productivity in the CNC area and Casting Quality Improvement.

Dean of FT UNY, Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono Ph.D, who had the opportunity to attend the presentation of student innovations at PT Komatsu Indonesia, said that "The MBKM Internship Program organized by PT Komatsu Indonesia is very beneficial for students because they work directly in the industry like other employees under the guidance of experienced company mentors. We hope that programs like this will continue and be expanded with other cooperation schemes."

The MBKM Internship is one of the implementations of the cooperation between UNY and PT Komatsu Indonesia, which has been established starting June 2, 2022 and is contained in a memorandum of understanding (MoU).  Therefore, the MBKM Internship program at Komatsu will be continued in Batch 2. Four UNY students will leave for MBKM Internship Batch 2 in the second week of January 2023.
